2. Shopping is a process addiction and like any addiction it is an avoidance from emotional pain and trauma. That jolt you get when you purchase something or find “just the right thing,” that's dopamine, it’s your drug of choice. It is the guilt and shame that you feel when you return home and have spent money you don't have or bought things you don't need, that's your letdown. So what I recommend to all my patients is to find their purpose in life.
People who are addicted to shopping tend to feel others are judging them at all times and are thereby trying hard to be on top of their game in terms of outward appearance. So that being said, I encourage you to keep those people around you who appreciate you for what you are and not what you have and what you use. My second advice is to start small. First, set yourself a limit, only shop with a list of things you need. Also it is better to stay away from online shopping because there is an even bigger variety so with a pre-planned list you have complete control on what you buy. Keep the receipts for what you buy and return what you can. Then start putting extra money in savings with a goal in mind like a vacation with your friends. This will definitely encourage you even more to be more careful. And, pick up a new hobby. Be kind to yourself. You deserve it.
1. Tourism can bring many economic advantages to a country as it boosts employment and can create jobs and bring extra income for the locals that run different businesses. It develops and “exploits” the natural resources, to grow and provide new options for the tourists. In order to keep them entertained, some countries usually develop waterways, wildlife areas, rain forest. Also, it generates great social, cultural and religious changes: This is a very contradictory factor and it can also be seen as a disadvantage sometimes. The natives of the country usually have to adopt to be more friendly and become more open to visitors. This allows them to learn new cultures and become more friendly and social. This way they learn new customs ,behaviors , foods and festivities.
Some disadvantages may be: One, the damage to the environment, damage to the local fauna. Tourists tend to leave behind a lot of plastic bottles, food wrappers and all kind of junk on the countryside and beaches.
Tourists can sometimes disturb the peace of monuments and historic sites, the guides sometimes use loud megaphones and loudspeakers to herd their groups around. So this is not convenient for the locals. Let’s not forget about vandalism: sometimes priceless relics and monuments get vandalized with graffiti by disrespectful tourists. Another disadvantage for the locals is that the prices get expensive for them as well not only for the tourists. The so-called ‘tourist prices’.
And lastly, the biggest disadvantage in my opinion is the dilution of the local culture, when the tourist influence gets out of hand.
