One of the most widely used languages worldwide is English. Approximately 67 nations have it as their official language, but interestingly, the United States are not one of them. Speaking of words, English has a category of words known as "ghost words" which mean virtually nothing. These terms typically show up in dictionaries as a result of printing mistakes. One of such words is "dord" and it was in circulation for 8 years. It is also astonishing how quickly the English language is expanding. A new word is reportedly added to dictionaries every two hours, which makes up to an increase of around 4000 words a year. With all this in mind, I think that English is extremely important to learn, especially that it is such a sought after skill on the job market. It is also crucial in breaking barriers and connecting with people from different parts of the world. Not only this, but it also allows us to enjoy many great movies, music and renowned books in their original form.
