English is one of the most powerful languages in the world, and you can be sure than no matter where in the world you end up, as long as you can speak at least a little bit of English, there are going to be people able to understand you. This is what I find so fascinating about the language: it breaks any barriers that, in the past, have made communication between different people difficult, if not impossible.
If you choose to study it at the university, there are no boundaries when it comes to how many different career paths you can take, especially considering that most businesses will only offer you a job if you are proficient in English. Not only this, but in our day-to-day life, everything around us is saturated with English content, be that music, cinema or most of the entertainment on the internet.
To conclude, I consider that speaking English is the first skill that most people should focus on, since it provides too many benefits to be neglected.
