A part of our Romanian national culture here is Martisorul. Every year on March 1st, we give bracelets or brooches (that you usually put on your chest with the help of an attached needle). The bracelets are usually red and white, the colors symbolize love and faith, but there are many different meanings.
A long time ago, people used to think that those bracelets would protect them and their families from diseases and bad luck. Nowadays, we mostly wear them for style, because our tradition says so.
