A movie that I saw recently and enjoyed was "Miss Peregrine's home for peculiar children", directed ny Tim Burton and starring Eva Green, Asa Butterfield and Samuel L Jackson as the main vilain.
The movie is based on the novel with the same title written by Ransom Riggs. It follows the adventures of Jake (Asa Butterfield), a teenager who discovers that on an island in Britain there is a hidden place which shelters choldren with special powers. The children are looked after by Miss Alma Peregrine (Eva Green), who has a peculiarity of her own; she is an ymbryne, she can transform into a peregrine falcon. Samuel L Jackson plays the vilain of the movie, a peculiar himself, who aims for immortality, at the cost of lives of peculiar children.
In order to save the children from Barron, Miss Peregrine accepts to be taken captive. The children, led by Jake, confront Barron and save Miss Peregrine and the other ymbrynes.
For a children-young adult muvie it is well-made. The scenery is fantasfic and the actors give their best to bring the characters to life and take us on a magical journey.
