In 1800 London has home to about one million people fewer than today's rush hour travellers . By 1900 london was the biggest city in the world with a population of over six million . as the city grey , new kinds of transport were needed . this project is about his history of bus services in london
the first london omnibus service was introduced by george george shillibeer in 1829. the omnibuses were pulled ny horses . by 1834 there were 376 licensed omnibuses in london. in 1858 the london general omnibus company took over three-quarters of the smaller companies . in 1870 the firs horse tram began running . it ran along tracks which lay level with the road surface . they were cheap and could carry as many passengers as the horse buses . the public was impressed and the tramps were an instant success . however horses were expensive to keep and feed so transport companies looking for alternative means of power . trams became powered by electricity from overhead wires and buses by diesel engines . london transport the state-owned company formed in 1933 gadually got rid of trams . london's red buses especially the routemaster introduced in 1956 have been a symbol of london since then . in 1985 the government encouraged other bus companies the offer services within the capital . since september 1994 all london buses have been run by privately-owned companies .
my family has lived in london `for several generations and my grandfather worked as a bus conductor for thirty years .he has seen many changes in the trasnport system . i have been using busses all my life and in my opinion riding on the top of a double decker is not only convenient but also the best way to enjoy the sights of our city.

a) Mickey chose this topic because his family lived in London for several generations and his grandfather was a bus conductor for over thirty years.
 b) As by 1900 there were around 6 million inhabitants in London and the means of transportation were not developed too much, the traffic was supposed to be quite heavy.
c) The transport companies decided to stop using horses because horses were expensive to keep.
d) The red buses became famous over the world because they had double decks and an open platform and they offered the best way to enjoy the sights of the city.
e. The private companies were encouraged to offer transport services because the number of population increased, London became a very large city and only one company could not provide the transport services for so great many people.
