Can anyone tell me how do we select a book ? Well…I will give you the answer. We search in the darkest corners of the library, in the dustiest stacks from the most pathless sectors, putting aside all the books with an unattractive title and with a dry cover. Why? to find the book with the most interesting title, the most coloured cover, made by the best material and written with the best ink, thinking that book has the most beautiful story with the most wonderful adventures, full of undeveloped secrets and unexplored worlds, but no…When we open that book we are disappointed. Why? Because the pages are empty or, if there’s a story, it is uninteresting and absolutely unattractive, where evil and sadness are the winners. What do we do then? We keep looking until we realize…That book, with a broken cover ,an uninteresting title and with mouldy pages has all what we want. It has that thrilling story with undeveloped secrets and creatures from another world…and…if we close our eyes that common book will transform its broken cover into a colourful one, full of interesting characters and funny inventions, and the mold of the pages will become fairy dust.
That happens with people too. We put away all of our real friends, looking for a person with a high statute in the society with the biggest house, built in the most beautiful location and worn with the most expensive clothes, but we are disappointed of the behavior and friendship it offers. Then we realize that real friends are those we drove away, those who were willing to offer some of their little, those who would help us, no matter the circumstances. Unfortunately we realize that too late and that’s how we lose those warm souls that once were our friends.
