Reunited

I haven't heard about him for years. He was dead. Or at least that's what my mother told me the past five years. I knew that he'd gone to war, I knew that he fought his last battle over the seas and since then, whenever I was asking about him my mom would say that he was dead . And now? Now I received a letter from him saying that he is alive. My father lives. And he wants to meet me. But why only now? Why did he wait so long before announcing us that he is alive?
I left all these questions behind me as I got down from my car and headed to the local hospital from which my father sent the letter . When I asked a nurse about him, she led me into an isolated ward, where my father was laying still. I kept looking at him , wondering why he didn't't want to shake my hand or even sit, so we can talk to each other, but before I got to ask him anything the nurse took the covers off and I was able to see his body, with no limbs. But that shouldn't't stay in the way, right? A father is still a father, nu matter how he looked. And he was my father.
