Conditional Type 2
Usage
•Hypothetical condition and its probable result.
Structure
•If clause (condition) + main clause (result) Main clause (result) + if clause (condition)
•If + past simple, present conditional or present continuous conditional Present conditional or present continuous conditional + if + present simple
Notes
•The present conditional of any verb: would + the infinitive of the main verb, without "to":
• I would go.
He would do.
You wouldn't go.
•When you use type 2. conditional it is very common, to say "if I were" instead of "if I was". It is correct.
Examples
•If I were you, I wouldn't do that.
I wouldn't do that if I were you.
• If you learnt more, you would have better marks.
You would have better marks if you learnt more.
