Without realizing it, it was night outside, and the children had forgotten their way home.
They started shouting, but in vain. Eventually they decided to go where they remembered they had come from.
As they walked, they came to the edge of a forest, and some strange voices called to the children in the haunted forest. The children, enchanted by those voices, headed for the forest.
They both disappeared into the woods, never to return.
