Cleaning up our town

What's the first image that comes to mind when you hear the word "pollution"? It's quite sad that for me, the first thing that I think about is my town. The quality of the water in local rivers and lakes has been decreasing a lot lately. You might have noticed it too ‐ the water is so dirty that we can't drink it or swim in it anymore. It's not only the factories which dump industrial waste that cause this, but also the people that throw away litter in the rivers. I think that it's time we take action and take care of the nature like she takes care of us. Making a difference today and for generations to come.

The very first step is to organise a clean up campaign. We have already thought of a name - Love Water. Volunteers can clean up the rivers and lakes. It's important that we all work together. As for the people throwing their litter in the water, we can put out more rubbish bins.

We have also thought about the factories that dump industrial waste into the water, and the best solution would be to fine them - it is against the law to do what they do, and we will most likely win against them. If we do, the water pollution will decrease and the water will be cleaner.

We shouldn't just sit and watch what's happening. If we all work together, we will be able to swim and use the water again in no time, but that only depends on you - so if you want to help, our first meeting will be on Sunday, at 2 o'clock, at the park near the Etheria River.
