King Midas, once greedy and insatiable to having gold, got the 'gift of golden touch' from the Gods. When he saw first that everything he touches turns into gold, he was very happy not thinking that his touch was a curse as he couldn't eat because the food became gold on his light touch. He realised that when he touched his daughter and turned herself into gold as well. From that moment he begged to Dyonisos to take the curse away. And his wish was granted when the God realised that no matter the greedy Midas could be , he was a loving father. He told the king to wash his hands into the river Pactolus. From that moment the river sands became golden. The legend is very sad and teaches us not to look for unwarranted profits or wealth, but instead we 'd better take the simplicity of life as it is and try make it shiny with our own effort.
