Hello! My name is Carolina, and I am standing here in front of you as proof that you can do anything you set your mind on! I was not allowed to go to school where I lived, because my parents considered education to be a waste of time. They couldn't see the benefits of a good education, and only focused on their own little world: working the field with the other members of our tribe and grazing the cows. I wanted more than that. I wanted to help the tribe in the best possible way: learning. My goal was to become a doctor. I knew how long it would take, but at the same time...it would benefit everyone in the long run. So, when I was your age, I ran away from home with another girl from my tribe, and we reached the city. We lived in an orphanage and went to school there. As much as we missed home, we knew what we had to do. A lot of hard work resulted into getting into the college of my dreams, then into becoming a doctor, and finally, into what I've been waiting for: seeing my family again. I went back to the tribe, introduced myself to my parents and got to see the tears of joy on their faces. After telling them about my accomplishments, they couldn't be happier! I am now a symbol to the children of my tribe. A symbol that shows them more than one option: with enough hard work, you can do anything!
