Simona Halep (born September 27, 1991, Constanța, Romania) is a Romanian tennis player who reached the first position in the WTA world rankings, twice, between 2017 and 2019. She held this position for 64 weeks, being from this point of view the tenth in the history of tennis in the ranking of longevity as a leader of the circuit. Halep finished 2017 and 2018 on the first place in the world in the WTA rankings. It is currently ranked 3rd in the world.
Halep won the Grand Slam tournaments at Roland Garros (2018) and Wimbledon (2019), previously losing three more finals: two at Roland Garros (2014, 2017) and one at the Australian Open (2018).
