Helping others makes you feel like you are involved in something larger than yourself. Have you ever left some cash with a note somewhere and walked away knowing that someone is going to smile thinking it is their lucky day? That feels pretty awesome. Random acts of kindness gives you a boost when you're feeling down too. So, when you are helping others, you are actually giving to yourself. You might think all this sounds cliche or even naive. And yes, it is cliche. But no, it’s not naive.
When thinking about this deeper, you would feel that all existence is nothing but love. By helping others you not only acknowledge but nurture that existence.
Helping others gives you an opportunity to learn and grow and become more mature. Plus, you shouldn’t expect any “help in return” (*because you will never get it in return). When you help people over a long period of time, the whole action will continue to build up, making you a better and stronger person.
