Erwin Johannes Eugen Rommel  

(born November 15, 1891 - died October 14, 1944) was one of the most distinguished and remarkable landowners of Germany, the Wehrmacht and the Second World War, and was also one of the largest German military commanders. Rommel was the general commander of the German troops in Africa, the Wehrmacht troops known as Deutsches Afrikakorps, which attracted the nickname of the desert because of the successful military campaigns he had made for the German army in the North African Campaign. Later, he was appointed commander of the German forces to resist the invasion of the Allies in Normandy.
