As he arrived at the Pelican beach hotel and began to take his suitcase out of his car, he thought he heard a child's cry. He left his suitcase by the car and went to investigate. He heard that weird sound from the south, where the ocean is. The sound was rather like a painful moan, like someone has just got a terrible wound. It was night, and he didn't see very well. Fortunately, he had a lantern with him. He went closer to the beach, and the sound began to intensify and he could hear it well enough to know that it wasn't a sound made by human or any animal he knew.
Suddenly, in the dark night, on the warm sand, he saw two eyes shining, like a cat's ones, but they were bigger and he could understand that those eyes were looking at him terrified. It's shape didn't look like any animal's, but he kinda had a humanoid shape. He was scared but didn't run away, he felt like that creature wanted him to approach. But he didn't. He stood back for about half an hour trying to figure out what is that creature and what happened to it. After a few minutes, he heard again a loud cry from it, he knew it was in pain. He couldn't stand it anymore and he went closer. Suddenly, he learned that creature looked like a human, but from it's waist down it had a fish tail. Was it a mermaid? He couldn't believe his eyes, he thought he was dreaming but he realised that this is real. He noticed that the creature's tail was caught in a fishing net and it couldn't escape and go back in the sea. He tried to talk to it but it didn't seem to understand his language. Slowly, he managed to take the fishing net off and pushed the creature back in the sea. It was swiming to fast that in a few seconds he couldn't see it anymore. He returned to the hotel, and every night since then he returned to that place to see whether the creature returned but he didn't see any signs..until the fifth night when...
