Environment means "everything around us": living organisms and non-living things. This category, which is very capacious, includes everything that exists on earth: relief, water, soil, atmosphere, light, temperature, large and small animals, other types of organisms visible with the naked eye or some only with special devices, as well as other lives that we don't even know exist. Each of these elements exists alongside the others and together form a balance. It is this balance that allows life to exist on earth. When something disrupts this environmental balance, life on earth undergoes catastrophic transformations. The most famous such change in Earth's history is the one that happened many millions of years ago and which led to the extinction of the dinosaurs.

The environmental imbalance 65 million years ago, which led to the extinction of the dinosaurs, had external causes: the global temperature caused suffered as a result of the impact of a 10 km diameter meteorite with the Earth. Today, more and more scientists confirm that the danger to the environment is internal: Man. But how did we humans, the rational beings of this world, manage to become the enemy of our environment and implicitly as a species?
