I was in the metro returning home from college. In front of me there was a girl reading a book. I tried getting closer to her to see what she was reading but, unfortunately, the metro was packed and I couldn’t move forward. I, so, abandoned the idea. Getting out of the train at my station I was wondering if I should walk trough the park to my apartment or if I should take the shortcut. Given I wasn’t particularly tired and hence it was also a sunny day outside I chose to walk trough the park. There was a café at the entrance and I stopped to grab some coffee first.
I then got home pretty fast despite taking the longest route. There, I could see that my roommate was cooking broccoli for dinner. Even though broccoli isn’t usually my cup of tea, at that moment, given I haven’t had the chance to have breakfast that day and didn’t eat much either, broccoli seemed like the most delicious thing in the world to me. I shared my toughts with her and she accepted to share her dinner with me, but not without making me promise that dinner is on me next time.
Moving forward, we watched a tv series togheter and discussed about an upcoming handball match in our city. Then the remoted stopped working at some point and so I picked up a screwdriver to change its batteries. We moved back on with our series and chitchat and time flew by pretty fast. It was now 9 o’clock in the evening. I went to my room to look over my notes and see if I have any assignments for the next coming days. Luckily, I didn’t have any. My parents then called me and asked if I’m coming over for the weekend. I looked over my calendar and saw I jotted down I should be at the movies this weekend. Playing with an eraser in my hand I wondered if I should stick to going to the cinema or if I should give the tickets to someone else and visit my parents instead. Making up my mind, I told them I can’t make it this time and I put the eraser down. My old basement bedroom didn’t seem too enchanting for me at that moment. I hang up and prepared to go to bed.
After falling asleep, something woke me up in the middle of the night. I could hear, quite loud, that someone was having a fight. The sound seemed to come from downstairs. I went to the window quietly and tried to spy from it what was happening. I couldn’t see anything. I went back to my bed a bit annoyed as to go back to sleep. After twisting and turning for what seemed like an eternity, with no success to falling back sleep, I got up and headed to the kitchen to prepare myself some tea hoping it would help me with my insomnia. I drank it with a teaspoon of honey to make it a bit sweeter, yet I still remained sleepless. Next day is gonna be such a horrendous one!
