A very interesting Romanian dish is something called răcitură. It is an aspic-like dish generally made from pork meat, but it can be made from turkey or chicken and vegetables.
Although its true origins remain unknown, it is known that during the Middle Ages a dish with the look and taste very similar to piftie appeared in Northern Asia (where modern Russia is situated), but Romanians have their own recipe and even one of the country's most notable writers has mentioned it in his books (Ion Creanga - Childhood memories)
