Ordering Lunch and Dinner
Waiter: Are you ready to order, sir?
Mr Ryefield: Yes. I’ll have the beef stew for starters and my wife would like tomato soup.
Waiter: One beef stew and one tomato soup. What would you like for the main course?
Mr Ryefield: I’ll have the Cayenne Pepper Steak and my wife would like the Fried Trout with mashed
potatoes.
Waiter: I’m afraid the trout is off.
Mrs Ryefield: Oh dear. Err... What else do you recommend?
Waiter: The sole is very good.
Mrs Ryefield: OK. I’ll have that. Do you have any coleslaw?
Waiter: No, I’m sorry, we don’t.
Mrs Ryefield: Just give me a small mixed salad then.
Mr Ryefield: Same for me.
Waiter: Certainly. (...) Would you like something to drink?
Mr Ryefield: Yes, please. May I see the wine list?
Waiter: Certainly. Here you are. (...)
Mr Ryefield: A bottle of Chardonnay ’99, please.
Waiter: Excellent choice!

Man : Would you mind if you’d bring each one of us a glass of tap water, so we could sort it out our order?
Waiter : I will gladly take care of it for you.
Man : Splendid.
Waiter : Excuse me sir, this is your tap water. Are you ready to order?
Man : I beg you pardon, would you mind if you’d recommend us something?
Waiter : It will be my pleasure. For the starters, you could try some hummus along some naan bread, and try the mixed Grill for dessert.
Man : That sounds pretty tempting. Would you mind if you’d double check if there are any peanuts in those dishes? My wife is absolutely allergic.
Waiter : I will double check with the chef, sir. Have no worries.
Man : Marvelous. Would you please also bring us a large glass of Sauvaugnion Blank? Darling, what would you like to drink?
Woman : A small glass of Malbec for me.
Waiter : I beg you pardon. I have double checked with the chef and there are no peanuts in any of these dishes.
Man : That is reassuring.
Waiter : There is the wine for you and your wife. Would you like to proceed with my recommendation?
Man : We would like to have a portion of hummus, which we would share two portions of the mixed grill for the mains. Could we please have some cheese cake as dessert?
Waiter : It will be my pleasure. Thank you and it will be a couple more minutes.
