I have recently discovered how amazing the French literature is. The last novel that I enjoyed is "A Life", written by Guy de Maupassant.

The novel describes the life of a woman, Jeanne de Lamare, from the beginning to the end of her days. Being born in a rich noble family and having a kind loving soul, she is not used with hardships and treachery. She marries the young Viscount Julien, who will soon disappoint Jeanne, by betraying her with another woman. Jeanne decides to have a baby, hoping she will find her happiness in raising a child. Her son, Paul, is also a disappointment for her. When Paul grows up, he leaves her and leads a luxurious life until Jeanne's entire furtune is spent and she becomes only a poor woman.

I was particularly impressed by the power of love showed by this tender woman and by her endless hope of finding somebody to love again.
