For me, making choices is not only difficult, but also quite stressful. However, sometimes, if you think hard enough and find a good solution, it can have positive outcomes.
I remember a similar situation that happened to me a few months ago. We were at school, during recess. Two of my good friends, Marcel and Susan, were having an argument over the fact that Susan had refused to let him copy his homework. Marcel was all about help between classmates, but Susan told him he should work for himself and not steal someone else's homework.
On the inside, I kind of agreed with Susan. But I decided to stay quiet; they were both good friends of mine, how could I choose a side?!
A few minutes later, they eventually came to me and asked "Well, what do you think? Whose side are you on?". I felt overwhelmed. If I picked the girl's side, I'd feel good with myself for making the right decision, but Marcel would be upset with me. However, if I chose the boy, Susan would be very mad as well.
In the end, I gave an answer: "You're both my friends and I don't want to anger any of you, or make you feel upset. But, honestly, I agree with Susan. Marcel, you really shouldn't try to steal someone else's homework. They needed a lot of time, patience and imagination to solve it, and it's just not alright to come and copy it. They took hours to do it. You'll take minutes to copy it. That's not fair, you know?"
Marcel wasn't angry, neither upset. He was actually relieved that someone had explained the situation more clearly to him. I offered to help him with his own homework from time to time, if he really had trouble doing it, and he agreed.
After all, what are friends for..?

Every Christmas holidays is like a nightmare for shoppers and their choices. It is always the last minute that counts more in the updated Christmas-to-do-list, and it seems to never end. Which is why I have decided to become more intelligent when going for shopping Christmas presents this year, and to ask myself when rushing for discounts the following:
1.Is the price right?
2.Is this merchandise the best use of my money?
I believe that my best choice is not to be part of the 'emotional shopper' community as they act by impulse, passion and hype. Without even realising, they rush and race to buy products filling the dreams and aspirations of ruthless marketeers that steal our Christmas every year and never stop!
While, by contrast, an intelligent shopper allows himself to see the Big Picture of not buying presents that are not worthy of their money because it happened to be on sale. Their picture about the beautiful Christmas holidays is not upside down as the majority of shoppers do, often placing desires ahead of needs, which is a wrong thing to do. That is why, I would join this community of smart shoppers that cherish Christmas values and tradition more than the marketeers' lust for huge profits.
