The first book "Lord of the Rings" has 13 chapters and prepares the ground for the action that pursues Frodo Baggins while leaving his home in the Comitat to escape the servants of the Dark Lord, Sauron. Sauron looks for One, the ring that allows him to control the bearers of the other 19 rings, represented by the three important races of the Middle Earth, namely, elves, men and gnomes. The ring was inherited by Frodo, who thus awakens in the midst of a struggle to dominate the world. The tone of the first chapter is a relaxed one, the descendant of the way the Hobbit is written. The first chapter opens with Bilbo's party at the age of 111, the same day that Frodo celebrates 33 years, the age of the majority among the hobbits. At his own party, Bilbo disappears after the speech, to everyone's surprise. Later, Frodo learns about the ring he used to make himself invisible, and also about his dark powers. At Gandalf's wizard's advice, Frodo leaves his house, taking the ring with him. He hopes to reach Rivendell, the land of the elves, where he will be protected and where he can decide what to do with the ring. On his way, he is accompanied by three hobbies: Peregrin Took, Meriadoc Brandybuck and Samwise Gamgee, usually called Mery, Pippin and Sam. From the beginning, the four are watched by the Black Horsemen, Sauron's ministers. They manage to get rid of them several times and encounter outmoded characters, like Tom Bombadil, and eventually get to Bree, where they meet Pas Mare, another friend of Gandalf, who leads them to Rivendell. On the way, Frodo is stabbed by one of the Black Horsemen and his wound gets worse. Along the way to Rivendell, they find the trains that had been transformed into stone in the Bilbo story, Hobbit.
