Try to imagine Earth without forests. Can you? I believe that Earth without our green woods is a picture that most of humankind presently could not conceive. Forests used to cover much of the planet’s land area which made them extremely important to humans and the natural world. However, nowadays, deforestation has been consuming our forests and it brings about a lot of unexpected effects on the earth and results in many negative consequences like, Ithe world’s rain forests will vanish within 100 years-causing unknown effects on global climate and eliminating the majority of plant and animal species on the planet. According to NASA’s Earth Observatory, this will hace a negative impact on natural environment by increasing the greenhouse effect and accelerating global warming. And it's even more as deforestation also causes soil erosion, the disappearance of some species, and the iceberg melting. The same source claims that deforestation is very hard to be stopped because people destroy or degrade forests just for momentary benefits as for land or resources, including both commercial timber and fuelwood. While greed and power can be the motivations of some groups in society that deforest and pollute, survival and the desire to escape from poverty is what drives most people to destroy forests, which I believe it is the most violent crime against our Mother Nature.
