Surprisingly or not, English is now so widely used in all environments that we can no longer imagine a scenario in which it is "dethroned" by another language. Thus, we have come to wonder when we meet young people who do not fluently speak English, and more than anything, the lack of basic English notions is a great disadvantage for anyone, even for grandparents when they walk through the mall and have difficulties in pronouncing company names in English. This language is so deeply infiltrated in the culture of young people today (music, movies, computer games, etc.) that they frequently use English expressions and words in the middle of a conversation in Romanian. Maybe grandparents have become accustomed to not understanding what grandchildren say, but it is devastating for young people not to understand a joke or an allusion to English in the group of friends.
