In a country medium sized European country like Romania ,with 18 million people ,the potential number of smokers can vary between two and 5 million people.
The impact on the country's economy is quite important as the tobacco companies are the biggest tax contributors to the state's budget.Exponentially,the bigger the number of smokers is,the more taxes the tobacco companies are paying,as more people buy cigarettes.
Of course the health issues due to tobacco consumption are quite important,many people getting different lungs and heart diseases on long term and sometimes can cause death.The number of people who die from smoking caused diseases are pretty big in our country.
In the past 10 years more and more people became aware of the danger that smoking can cause and many have stopped using tobacco.
