A 21st Century disease is an illness that has emerged relatively recently, or has become more common in the past few decades. Examples of 21st Century diseases include, but are not limited to, antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections, autoimmune diseases, and the resurgence of infectious diseases such as measles. Many of these illnesses stem from environmental changes, antibiotic overuse, and increasingly globalized populations. As the world continues to evolve, new diseases are sure to emerge. It is essential that we remain vigilant and committed to public health initiatives in order to combat these new health threats.
