Pentru a verifica daca triunghiul este dreptunghic trebuie sa aplici Reciproca Teoremii lui Pitagora. (Suma patratelor catetelor este egal cu patratul ipotenuzei. Amintim ca ipotenuza este cea mai mare latura.)
De exemplu:
a) $6^{2} + 8^{2} = 10^{2} =\ \textgreater \ 36+64 = 100 =\ \textgreater \ 100=100 =\ \textgreater \ dreptunghic$

b)$15^{2} + 36^{2} = 39^{2} =\ \textgreater \ 225 + 1296 = 1521 =\ \textgreater \ 1521=1521$ => dreptunghic

c)$7^{2} + 8^{2} = 9^{2} =\ \textgreater \ 49+64=81 =\ \textgreater \ 113 = 81$ => nu este dreptunghic

d)$( 3 \sqrt{2})^{2} + (2 \sqrt{3})^{2} = \sqrt{30} ^{2} = 18 + 12 = 30 =\ \textgreater \ 30= 30$ => dreptunghic
