a) Like children left home alone when the mother is out, people that get too much freedom start to abuse it, forgetting about the inevitable consequences of profiting of the temporary freedom they get when there's no authority.
b) Birds can fly far away if they please, but they'll always return to their home like people do because no one's better than home. You can't call anyplace 'home' without memories to make it worth that name.
