— I’d like to introduce Patricia Hedge. Miss Hedge, can

you tell us about the fi rst time you went white-water boating?

Miss Hedge:

— Well, the fi rst time I went was two years ago. Th ere

were eight of us. We met at the river, and spent the day

checking our things and the boats. We had to tie everything

down. It rained most of the day. We camped that night by the

river. It was very quiet. I was a bit nervous, but I fell asleep at

last, and woke at dawn. We had to start early. It wasn’t sunny,

and the air was cold, but it wasn’t raining. We had breakfast,

packed up the tents, tied everything down.

Th e Reporter:

— Why did you tie everything down?

Miss Hedge:

— Well, boats do sometimes turn over in the water. Anyway,

the fi rst few miles were easy. Th e river was slow and the

water was fl at. Th en the river went faster, and I suddenly saw

some white water in front of me. We tried to stop the boat but

the river was too strong. I was terrifi ed.

Th e Reporter:

— Why were you so frightened?

Miss Hedge:

— Well, water was pouring in and it was impossible to

see or hear anything, because the noise of the water was so

loud. Th en suddenly we saw the other boat. We crashed into

them, and two of the people in the boat fell into the river.

Th ey disappeared. Everyone was shout ing, but you couldn’t

hear what they were saying. At last, the people in the water

appeared. One of them came near our boat, and we pulled

him in. We left the white water and got the boat under control

at last, and looked for the other boat. Th ere was no boat,

and nobody.

— What did you do?

them at last. Th at was my fi rst time in white water, and I

wanted more!

Răspuns: Reporterul: - As dori sa va introduc cu Patricia Hedge. Doamna Hedge, puteti sa ne spuneti despre prima voastra oara in excursie cu barca in ape albe ?

Ms. Hedge: Prima oara a fost cu 2 ani in urma. Acolo eram 8 oameni. Ne-am intalnit la un rau si am petrecut ziua verificand lucrurile si barcile. A trebuit sa legam totul. A plouat majoritatea zilei. Am (camped that night) facut camping noaptea ceia langa rau.. A fost foarte linistit. Am fost putin ezitanta, dar am adormit in sfarsit si m-am trezit la apus. A trebuit sa ne pornim devreme. Nu era insorit, si aerul era rece, dar nu ploua. Am luat micul dejun, am impachetat corturile si am legat totul

Reporterul: De ce ati legat totul?

Ms. Hedge: Pai, barcile uneori se rastoarna in apa. Oricum, primele mile au fost usoare. Raul a fost incet si apa nu era tulbure. Dupa raul a mers mai repede si deodata am vazut niste apa alba (apa tulbure) in fata mea. Am incercat sa oprim barca dar raul era prea puternic (curentii raului). Eram terifiata.

Reporterul: De ce erai asa speriata?

Ms. Hedge: Pai, apa curgea inauntru si era imposibil sa vezi sau sa auzi ceva, deoarece sunetul apei era foarte tare. Dupa am vazut deodata o alta barca . Ne-am lovit in ei si 2 oameni din barca au cazut in rau. Ei au disparut. Toata lumea tipa. dar nimic nu se auzea din ce ei spuneau. In sfarsit oamenii din apa au aparut. Unul din ei a iesit langa barca noastra si l-am tras inauntru. Am trecut de apa alba si am adus barca sub control in sfarsit si am cautat cealalta barca. Nu era nici o barca si nimeni.

Reporterul: Ce ai facut?

Nu e o cale buna de a incepe. Acum, spune-mi... (fade out inseamna partea aia ca dintr-un film cand se blureaza imaginea si se arata o amintire sau eveniment ce deja s-a intamplat).

Ms. Hedge: A trebuit sa plecam inapoi sa ii cautam si i-am gasit in sfarsit. Aceasta a fost prima mea oara cu barca pe ape albe si am dorit mai mult!
