Today, English is the most popular language in the world, with about 350-400 milion native speakers. It the common language for many non-native speakers all over the world. 1.5-2 billion people can understand English.

English is recognised as a international language and a large number of countries teach it in school.

English is the official language of industry and business. Over 90% of international airlines use English, some Swedish companies use English within the workplace, because so much of their business is done through the internet and other communications.

Up to 95% of popular music, television and movies is in English.

We don't know how many words there are in the English language, but we think there are more than a milion. There is a large number of new words and expressions invented each year.
