Hello mother and father,
Today, 17th January 1834, I have arrived in North America. I'm so sorry for leaving my homeland, England, but I felt like my life wasn't meant to be spent there. Don't worry about me, I'm doing fine. Although the trip was a little bit risky, I made it to the end! When we were crossing the Atlantic ocean, a storm started and our ship and us almost drowned. This place doesn't look much different than England, but it's warmer and here are many mountains and even cannyons (cannyons are some kind of huge pits). I wish you were both here.
