Firstly,you can get the highest or the lowest mark, but don't be sad and depressed.Marks DOES NOT define a person, they are not an indication of what you really know and what you can really do.

Besides, it is important do do well in school because that's how you will get accepted to university.

In my opinion (or I think) being good in school is important for our future.Because with a higher knowledge you can get into a top college,you can get a better job.In most of the cases in school you learn things that one day will help you,probably.
