Grigore Vieru is the greatest national poet of our days.There is no other poet in Moldova who ever wrote so many poems devoted to Mother, his historical land and its people and especially to children. His poems glorifying mother-land made him honoured, well-known, respected and loved by everybody. Grigore Vieru is also famous for his courageous poems dedicated to our Roman origin opting for our language native name, which is Romanian and its Latin writing. Most of his poems were turned into famous patriotic songs that are widely sung in Moldova and other European countries .Unfortunately we lost our great and talented poet who in 2009 died after a car accident.
