One summer day I was wandering through my grandfathers rose garden. As I was admiring the splendour that surrounded me, I saw a little girl just behind the fence. I talked to her and I found out that she was the neighbours daughter. She had a black kitten in her arms wich she just wouldn’t want to let go. I asked her if that cat was her pet and she didn’t reply, after all, the girl was very small and seemed very frightened as I was speaking to her.
Then, I heard someone call out a name: “Emma, Emma! Where are you? We were supposed to leave 5 minutes ago! Stop hiding and come back now! Emma!”. The little girl was so scared that she stopped moving and was holding the kitten that I almost taught it would jump out of her arms. I asked her if there was something wrong and tears began pouring down her face. I called my grandfather and he helped me calm her down. “ Poor thing, he said, what made such a sweet girl be so sad ? “ . Finally Emma told us that all her live she wanted a pet but her mother wouldn’t let her have one. Then, the girl began crying again. Finally, after petting the kitten she mumbled that her family was probably looking for her and that she must go. Im that moment, a smile appeared on my grandfathers face “What do yo say Emma if we will keep this kitten for you and whenever you’ll come to visit your grandparents you will get to play with her. You can even name it if you like.” Emma started laughing as she was extremely excited. She thanked us and named the cat “ Rosie”, after the rose bush she had found it in. Since then, she comes to visit every summer and we spend sunny days daydreaming together and playing with Rosie. That day I learned that even the smallest act of kindness can mean the world to someone else and I have been trying to help and understand people ever since.
