Vitoria Lipan from the novel "The Hatchet"/ "The axe" by Mihail Sadoveanu is the main character, Nechifor's wife and Minodora and Gheorghita's mother. She's almost 40 years old but is a beatiful woman: is tall with brown medium hair and brown eyes with long eyelashes. Vitoria is a fierce and energetic woman,as working as Nechifor, cleverer that Gheorghita and also a thoughtful woman. She is very determined because she goes with her son for searching her disappeared husband and cautious because she took a hatchet and a gun as weapons.
She gives great courage and patience during the whole journey through the mountains, talking to different people and gathering information, all of these to find her husband; and she succeded.
