Last spring, I visited the fortress of Sorocii. My morning awakening was a bit difficult, but the road I took with my friends was very great. We were all impatient to get there as soon as possible. Being a beautiful sunny day, it was interesting to look through the window of the bus I was traveling with. At noon we arrived in Soroca. The road to the fortress was impatient. We were all impressed by the Roma houses. They resembled castles, which were bigger than another. But we already saw the fortress we started in the morning. The first impression was unforgettable. I could see the Dniester nearby. In the past we could imagine the battles that took place in the past. When people could take shelter and fight in the fortress. Many know about this wonderful place. But it is the first time you visit it. I know that the Soroca Fortress is a Moldavian fortress from the 15th century, built of wood by Stephen the Great, in front of the ford over the Dniester, and then rebuilt of stone. Now it is even more wonderful because between 2013 and 2015 the restoration of the fortress took place. Soroca Fortress is a unique historical monument in the architecture of the defensive constructions of medieval Moldova. I entered the fortress through the prismatic tower facing the Dniester. The fortress has a circular shape with a diameter of the inner courtyard of 30.5 m, with 5 towers, 4 circular and a prismatic one with the entrance passage, all located at equal distances. Being inside you imagine that you are one of the fighters who fought for our country. Especially knowing that once here, at the foot of the fortress walls, the most cruel wars took place.
