Ingredients:
300 g basmati rice
1 large onion
20 ml of sunflower or olive oil
20 ml dry white wine
salt, to taste
450 ml water
Method of preparation: clean and chop the onion. Heat a drop of olive oil in a pan and saute the onion with a pinch of salt. After the onion has become translucent, add the rice and fry it for two minutes, until it becomes glassy. Pour the white wine and let it evaporate. Add water, cover with a lid (or a disk of baking sheet) and put in the oven for 15 minutes, at 180°C. Remove the pilaf from the oven and season to taste.

Romanian version
Ingrediente:
300 g orez basmati
1 ceapa mare
20 ml ulei de floarea-soarelui sau masline
20 ml vin alb sec
sare, dupa gust
450 ml apa
Mod de preparare: curata si toaca ceapa. Incalzeste un strop de ulei de masline intr-o cratita si soteaza ceapa cu un varf de cutit de sare. Dupa ce ceapa a devenit translucida, adauga orezul si prajeste-l timp de doua minute, pana devine sticlos. Toarna vinul alb si lasa-l sa se evapore. Adauga apa, acopera cu un capac (sau un disc din foaie de copt) si da la cuptor timp de 15 minute, la 180°C. Scoate pilaful din cuptor si condimenteaza, dupa gust.
