• Present Progressive/Continuous exprimă o acțiune de durată care se desfășoară în momentul vorbirii sau o acțiune planificată în viitorul foarte apropiat (I am reading now. I am leaving tomorrow at 8 am.)

• Past Progressive/Continuous exprimă tot o acțiune de durată, care a avut loc în trecut (I was reading while he was playing outside.)

• Future Progressive/Continuous exprimă o acțiune ce se va derula în viitor pe o anumită perioadă de timp (Danny will be having fun at the circus tomorrow after-noon).
