1. No I would not. In general I am not interested in the life of people who are promoting violence. Even if Charles Bronson was on the good side most of the time, he was very violent in his movies
2. That depends on why or what are the people locked up for. If they are vicious criminals and did very serious crimes the only way to punish them withouth killing them is to lock them up. This way they cannot harm anybody else. If they have done less serious crimes I think there are aslo other alternatives
3. The most immediate effect is that people are separated from their families and cannot see them. This can lead to an end in the family relations. In this case it is a painful process for all involved people.
4. In my oppinion there are several alternatives to prison such as: house arrest, community work, help the less fortunate,
