Reading corner 1 Read the text and answer the questions: THE POOL OF TEARS Alice looks at the cake again. "Well, I can eat it," she thinks, "If it makes me larger, I can reach the key on the glass tabl and I can unlock the door. If it makes me smaller, I can creep under the door. So either wat L I can get into the garden." She starts eating the cake and soon finishes it. "Oh, dear!" she cries. "This is so strange! I'm opening up like a telescope!" Her feet are so far away that she wonders how she can get her shoes off. Then her hea touches the ceiling. She is too tall to do anything now. She sits down and begins to cr again. She can't stop crying! Soon there is a large pool of tears around her. After a while she hears someone in the distance. Alice dries her eyes and sees the Whit Rabbit coming back. He is carrying a fan and a pair of white gloves. "Please, sir, could you help me?" asks Alice timidly, But when he sees her, the White Rabb drops his fan and gloves and runs away as quickly as he can. Alice feels very hot, so she picks up the fan and uses it. She feels different now! She suddenly up to her chin in salt water, in the pool of tears. She is small again, but the garde door is still shut and the gold key is back on the glass table.
