Respect is something people must earn in order to be respected, but respecting yourself is the key to to gaining other’s appreciation.
Confucius once said “Respect yourself and others will respect you”, words still available in today’s world. Self-respect is something very important. This could be achieved by taking care of yourself. For instance, when people keep themselves tidy, do their homework and keep improving on themselves, is a sign of respect for themselves.
With respecting yourself, you gain respect from others. When people realize that you keep yourself clean, you do your schoolwork and are kind-hearted being around you will be a real pleasure and you will have a lot of friends.
All in all, I believe self respect should be achieved by appreciating yourself more and by wanting to broaden your horizons. After you appreciate yourself enough admiration from others will come without any doubt.
