Henry VIII, the son of Henry VII, became king of England in the year 1509. Two weeks before being crowned, the king married Catherine of Aragon, who was a good wife and, also, brave.
They were very happy at first, but time was passing and they did not have a son. Longing for a heir, Henry decided to divorce Catherine but he needed the consent of the Pope in Rome and the Pope did not agree.
Henry made himself the head of the Church of England and was free to divorce Catherine.
Soon, Henry married Anne Boleyn who gave him a baby: a daughter named Elizabeth. Getting tired of waiting for a son and of Anne, he accused her of unfaithfulness and had her behaded in May 1536.
The one who gave him a son was Jane Seymour - a plain, simple girl Henry V||| loved very much. Jane and Henry named their son Edward but Jane fell ill and died, leaving the king hearbroken.
In 1540, for political reasons, the king married Anne of Cleves, but because he found her rather ugly, divorced her in the same years. After the divorce, Henry VIII merried Catherine Howard, but he was fat and old and she loved someone else. Finding out, Henry beheaded his wife in 1542.
One year later, he met and married Catherine Parr, who was very good with his children and everything was going well until, unfortunately, he died leaving his wife and children behind.
