In the middle of the 5th century, there lived celtic king named Arthur.
However, the legends about him developed much later on in the 12th and 13th century. There were tales about King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. This is one of the legends.
It was Christmas. All the barons and knights were gathered in London's biggest and greatest church. In the courtyard was a sword stuck in a stone. The sword had the following words on the stone: 'Whoever pulls this sword may become the rightful king of England'.
All the people gathered there were eager to try their luck and strength. On New Year's Day a tournament was announced.People came from all across the country.Amongst them, there were a north-country knight, Sir Ector, and his sons, Sir Arthur and his elder brother Sir Kay.
Sir Kay left his sword at home so he sent Arthur to fetch the sword from the courtyard.Arthur quickly pulled out the sword and took it to his elder brother. Then, Sir Kay went to his father and claimed he pulled it but Sir Ector discovered the truth not after long.He asked Arthur to put the sword back then he tried to pull it but he failed. Then Sir Ector tried but same thing happened. When Arthur took out the sword his father knelt before him.
Arthur, confused, asked: 'Father, why are you kneeling?'.Sir Ector confessed. He found Arthur at his door on a stormy night and he loved him like his son.
And so, Arthur the son of King Uther became the rightful king of England.
