Say if a person can be successful with big things if he/she isn't successful with small ones.Why?

I don't think someone can be succesful with big things if they can't do small things first because, after all, every big thing is made of small parts that need to be done separate. I don't think someone that can not concentrate on doing an small or easy assignment can be trusted with a big project. Of course there are different reasons on why some people can't handle small or unimportant things but my opinion is that we should always try to understand people and never judge anyone because of only one mistake.
