For me personally, the quote, “Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” is one of my personal favorite quotes by James Baldwin currently because I feel that this quote in particular, relates to many different crisis going on in the world, today.

My analysis of this quote is if one attempts to actively fix the world and make it a better place, even with all one’s effort, the world may still not be guaranteed to be fixed. However, attempting to make changes, even if there is no change at all, provides a higher possible outcome, than the person who is to not try at all. This topic relates to the general idea spoken in class of how many different cultural background students coming from parents, who are their families first generation. During the time of many of these student’s parents lives, they were that 2% who were able to survive for example: swimming across the ocean, walking long trails, surviving wars, and rowing boats, all to access freedom. Although not everything faced can be changed, the surviving 2% foreigners who are in America today, are physical proof, attempting is better than not at all. People will never know the outcome of a goal, without attempting it.
