I knew my life would never be the same again, after the day my dad was admitted to the hospital. The hospital required us to pay a huge amount upfront to treat him. My mom and I decided to take it off from my dad’s savings but without his signatures, the bank didn't agree.
Fortunately, my uncle paid the amount upfront, and dad cleared the debt after he got discharged. But within 6 months, we had to take him again to the hospital, the doctor advising us to admit him immediately for treatment.
I still remember the morning clearly when the nurse took him in a wheelchair. He was completely unconscious and had no clue what was happening with him. Fortunately, again my uncle stepped up and paid the initial amount which was actually again quite huge. That day I realized how important having a financial backup is.
After that I started applying for jobs. I realized in a very brutal way that I had let down my parents, and most importantly I had been a coward who had been running away from his responsibilities.
