Romania's geografical position, at the crossroads of great powers starting from her beginning up to today, in the middle of the Eastern, Southern and Central Europe, has always attracted close or far-off neighbouring contries who tried to conquer our lands for their natural beauty, diversity and industrial and agricultural potential.
In spite of the past harships and disastrous wars, which had a huge impact on our rather country, the Romanians have succeeded to maintain their independence. Maybe one of the most difficult periods in the recent history of Romania was communism, because it has lead to the deep change of the Romanians' mentality. My parents told me about the famine and poverty caused by the communist leaders, and about the interdiction of saying the truth as it was. For Romania, communism not only deprived us of our natural right to feed ourselves, but the totalitarian system deprived us of the natural right to think, and that is the most painful crime against human spirit.
Today, Romania is a beautiful independent country, with hard-working people who are always happy to greet the visitors and to make them feel welcome here. While the natural beauties are still preserved to some point, the cities become more and more modern, with high extravagant buildings and large parks for entertainment. In time, I hope the economical life will be developped with patience and trust in ourselves and the children of our nation will not have to leave to work for other countries.

România, trecut şi prezent
Poziţia geografică a României, la răscrucea dintre drumurile marilor puteri de la începuturi şi până azi, în mijlocul Europei de Est, de Sud şi Europa Centrală, a atras întotdeauna ţările învecinate apropiate sau îndepărtate, care au încercat să ne cucerească pământurile pentru frumuseţea şi diversitatea lor naturală şi pentru potenţialul industrial şi agricol.
În ciuda greutăţilor şi războaielor dezastruoase din trecut, Românii au reuşit să-şi păstreze independenţa. Poate una din cele mai dificile perioade din istoria recentă a României a fost comunismul, deoarece a condus la schimbarea profundă a mentalităţii românilor. Părinţii mi-au povestit despre foamea şi sărăcia provocată de liderii comunişti, precum şi despre interdicţia de a spune adevărul aşa cum era. Pentru România, comunismul nu ne-a privat doar de dreptul natural de a ne hrăni, sistemul totalitar ne-a privat şi de dreptul natural de a gândi, iar aceasta este cea mai dureroasă crimă împotriva spiritului omenesc.
Astăzi România este o ţară frumoasă şi independentă, cu oameni harnici care sunt întotdeauna bucuroşi să-i salute pe vizitatori şi să-i facă să se simtă bine-veniţi aici. În timp ce frumuseţile naturale continuă să fie păstrate până la un anumit punct, oraşele devin tot mai moderne, cu clădiri înalte, extravagante şi parcuri mari pentru distracţie. În timp, sper că viaţa economică se va dezvolta cu răbdare şi încredere în noi înşine şi copiii naţiunii noastre nu vor fi nevoiţi să plece să muncească pentru alte ţări.
