My opinion is that material goods won't bring happiness and people. I belive that the richer you are, the more people are more interested only in your riches.
Even tho, having financial abundance is always helpful, from my point of view, a money deprived life will not bring as much happiness as a group of friends you can joke and laugh with instead of 100 bars of gold that don't bring any valueable memory.
